Argon (Ar) is present in atmospheric air in very small quantity (about 0.9%). It is colorless, odorless gas and highly inert (non-reactive) like Nitrogen.
Argon is mostly used as an inert shielding gas in welding and other high-temperature industrial processes where ordinarily unreactive substances become reactive. 


Application:
1. as a carrier gas in sputtering, plasma etching and ion implantations, and as a blanket atmosphere in crystal growth
2. for ICP spectroscopy (Inductively Coupled Plasma spectroscopy)
3. in atomic absorption spectrometry as a blanket gas in the graphite furnace
4. as a shielding gas for arc welding
5. as an insulation gas in high-efficiency multi-pane windows to improve thermal insulation
6. in the iron and steel industry to prevent oxidation of molten metals and alloys and for degassing and desulphurization of molten steel and iron baths
7. to displace oxygen in the top of intravenous drug containers, extending product shelf-life
8. for wine preservation to eliminate air by the heavier argon, to prevent oxidation and extend the product quality for opened bottles and barrels.

Storage Note:

Store in a ventilated warehouse, away from fire and heat sources; gas cylinders should have anti-falling measures. Cryogenic liquid storage tanks larger than 10 cubic meters cannot be placed indoors. Bottled gas products are high-pressure filling gas, which should be decompressed and depressurized before use. All the gas cylinders have an expiration date on them, and all expired gas cylinders must be sent to a department for safety inspection before they can continue to be used. When the exhaust gas of each bottle of gas is used, the residual pressure in the bottle should be kept at 0.5MPa, and the minimum residual pressure should not be lower than 0.25MPa. The bottle valve should be closed to ensure gas quality and safe use. Bottled gas products should be classified and stacked during transportation, storage and use. It is strictly forbidden to stack combustible gas and combustion-supporting gas together. It is not allowed to be close to open flames and heat sources. , Do not hit, it is strictly forbidden to start arc or arc on the gas cylinder, and it is strictly forbidden to load and unload it brutally.
